Susan Chin has been a successful business woman since around 2004. A few year prior to that (2002) she gave birth to her 1st child and moved into the Ilikai Hotel and Condominium, located in the heart of Waikiki where she met some of the tenants. The tenants were often called snowbirds, because they would come to Hawaii every year for a few months of vacation. Being a helpful, friendly and compassionate person Susan is, she made friends with many of these snowbirds. All of them elderly. Many of the widows or widowers welcomed Susan’s company because they were very lonely & because Susan is an extremely compassionate woman. It was then natural that she assisted them as an elderly care taker (after Susan would put her newborn down for a nap, she would help them with random everyday chores, such as laundry, dishes, even bathroom and toilet cleaning) without requiring any type of compensation. These senior citizens loved being around her due to her youth and vitality. Most of these elderly vacationers had limited mobility. Susan would take them to do fun things like daily excursions, driving them to the otherside of the island, concerts, jazz shows, dinners & etc…all paid by Susan Chin herself for many years. Although Susan’s elderly friends would often offer to pay her expenses, Susan would absolutely refuse because she did not believe in her elder friends paying because most were on fixed incomes. Susan is now a great single mother(husband died 2010) of two very well mannered boys whom she teaches how to live by her life mantra: “people first, then money” & “pay it fwd”…Susan is a former foster mother who took in families and teenagers, because they were deemed “unadoptable” by most people. She has also donated to countless charities and foundations, to name a few: Covenant House for runaway and abused teens, Operation Smiles (an international children's medical charity for children with clef pallets), United Cerebral Palsy, Big Brother and Sister, countless churches (Holy Trinity, St. Augustine). Moreover, she has contributed a rather voluminous sum of cash donations to private sectors like individual homeless or struggling families, students, single mothers, she counseled alcohol and substance abuse, (men & women) without judgment. All these acts of compassion & interest free donations are given by Susan Angela Chin from her own finances and were made in her free time. She has done unremarkable things like while picking up her own cancer medication at Queens Hospital POB 1 pharmacy one afternoon, Susan noticed an elderly woman troubled & confused, she asked the woman if she can help & the woman had replied that she had been waiting at the pharmacy since 5am waiting on her medication. The pharmacy had over a dozen people there & no one seem to want to help her. Susan asked the pharmacist what the problem was & it was clear that this elderly woman could not afford her medication & insurance did not cover it. Without hesitation Susan paid for the medication which was not cheap..ie almost $300. Susan did not wait around for praise or reward, she paid it & asked if the elderly lady (Edith Tortelli) needed anything else & she left.
Susan has giving her foster teen $500k for education & most recent gave a 2003 car to a single mother who needed transportation for work & child, despite of the legal nightmare & health issues Susan herself is suffering thru because that’s exactly who this woman is, an extremely giving, compassionate woman always thinking of others first. The 44-year-old Susan Chin is a much-respected mother and friend, who have done a lot for the community for years without expecting fan-fair, reward or pat on the back. She is a true example of humanitarian, an unsung hero being wrongfully charged & convicted because of people who do not know her & their perspective of her without knowing all the facts of the case. If more people would be like her, the world would be a better place.
Kathy Ganeko has been reaching out numerous times via telephone to Susan Chin wanting to come back to her...sadly the family has moved Kathy a few times desperately to keep her away from Susan Chin & the real truth…i.e.…they just want to keep their inheritance & keep poor Kathy isolated from happiness until she passes…
